It can also be caused from arthritis of joints, which can happen as your body changes over the years. This can cause the joints and\/or tissue to swell, which prevents you from removing your ring.<\/p>\n<p>When you can\u2019t simply slide your ring off, try these steps for safely removing a ring:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Squirt some Windex &#8211; yes Windex &#8211; on the finger and ring. Or, use any lubricant such as soap or oil.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Elevate the hand overhead for 5-10 minutes with ice around the ring and finger.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Use dental floss or a thread to compress the swollen finger as shown:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a. Slip the thread or floss under the stuck ring with the bulk of it toward the fingertip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/handsurgeon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Ring_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87\" src=\"https:\/\/handsurgeon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Ring_2.jpg\" alt=\"Ring_2\" width=\"200\" height=\"138\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">b. Beginning at the top of the ring, snuggly wrap the finger with the thread\/floss around and around, compressing the finger, all the way up and over the knuckle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/handsurgeon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Ring_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-88\" src=\"https:\/\/handsurgeon.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Ring_3.jpg\" alt=\"Ring_3\" width=\"200\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">c.
